Changes to Ordering Repeat Medication

Please read the following update before ordering your repeat prescription:

Ordering your Repeat Prescription

SystmOnline

If you’re registered to use SystmOnline, you can order your prescription online, if you haven’t registered for online services, please complete the form below to order your prescription; if you would like to know how to register for online services please click here.

Repeat prescription requests must be made in writing. Please allow at least 2 complete working days before collection.

You may request your prescription online, via your pharmacy or by post.

If you enclose a stamped, addressed envelope for your prescription to be posted back to you please allow five working days; we no longer accept medication requests by email from patients.

Most chemists in the area operate a prescription collection service from the surgery; some chemists will deliver to your home, please ask the practice for details.

Please note that if you use this facility you will need to allow 3 complete working days before collection.

Electronic Prescribing enables patient prescriptions to be sent electronically to the chemist of your choice omitting the need for a printed prescription; please ask our staff or contact the practice for more information.

Prescription requests will not be taken over the telephone; this is to avoid mistakes when taking information about medication over the telephone and to free our lines for more urgent calls and appointments.

Please ensure that you always have sufficient tablets to last over the weekend and public holidays when the surgery is closed.

As recommended by the Department of Health, and in line with other local surgeries, the practice has introduced a 28-day repeat prescribing policy for patients who are exempt from paying for their prescriptions.

This policy has been recognised by the NHS as achieving the best possible balance between patient convenience, good medical practice and minimal drug wastage.

The surgery participates in repeat dispensing which means that we can provide you with a batch of prescriptions for up to 12 months.

This saves you from having to come to the surgery to request another prescription; this service is for patients who have regular medication and are currently stable.

Please ask your doctor if you qualify and would like this option.

Online Repeat Prescription Requests

If you have a SystmOne account you can request your repeat medication online. This facility is for ordering your repeat medication only. Requests made more than 7 days before your medication is due will not be accepted.

If you do not have an account and you would like one please come into the surgery and ask at reception, please bring with you one piece of ID.

Alternatively, you can download the NHS App to easily order your repeat prescription. The NHS App is also being promoted nationally for patients who wish to make use of it as a COVID Passport as well as being able to offer other valued NHS services.

Repeat Electronic Dispensing Prescriptions Service

Due to the current circumstances and pressures on the NHS, NHS England has advised to change the way you currently order your regular medication. Your GP or healthcare practitioner will issue a repeat dispensing prescription which will have a number of prescription issues on it e.g. a minimum of 3 months of medication to be collected monthly.

This “batch” of prescriptions will be sent electronically to your existing nominated pharmacy. This means that you simply collect your regular medication from your usual pharmacy without having to order it each month.
