COVID-19 Vaccinations Update – 9th April 2021

Message from our Patient groups

In liaison with the Practice staff of the 4 surgeries of Hanscombe House, New River Health [Castlegate and Church Street branches], Wallace House and Watton Place Clinic.

Covid-19 vaccination progress update

The rest of April promises to be a busy month. Second dose vaccination clinics will be held at Hertford Theatre [10-11 clinics], in care homes and at home for those patients who are unable to leave their homes.

Some of you who are registered carers for clinically extremely vulnerable patients will be contacted by your surgery this week to ask you to come for your vaccination if you have not already had one.

Not sure if you are eligible? As of 31st March, the Government issued the following advice: “Some carers are now included on the vaccination priority list in group 6. Those who are eligible for a carer’s allowance, or those who are the sole or primary carer of an elderly or disabled person who is at increased risk of COVID-19 mortality and therefore clinically vulnerable, should be offered vaccination in priority group 6, which includes unpaid carers. Make sure you are registered as a carer with your GP and read more on vaccine advice for carers.”

Are you over 50 years old and have not yet received your first dose? Please contact your surgery to arrange this.

We are also contacting, and offering the vaccine to, adult household members [aged over 30 years] of patients who are severely immunosuppressed.

Government guidelines suggest all over 50s are to be vaccinated by mid-April with no clear date, as yet, when the under 50s programme will start.

Are you displaying Covid like symptoms: a high temperature; a new continuous cough and/or a loss of smell? Please cancel your appointment and ring 111 or go to

You must wear a face mask and keep 2 metres apart.

All vaccinations, at any centre, must be pre-booked.
